Description

ULTRALIGHT LEVEL IV BODY ARMOR PLATE

EMPEROR

Emperor is the extreme expression of modern ceramic armor engineering.

Its strike face is made from a proprietary sintered titanium-modified boron carbide: an exceptionally light, hard, low-porosity armor ceramic developed for maximum ballistic efficiency. Ceramic protection extends across the full plate footprint, and the plate requires no soft-armor backing.

The result is a full-size, standalone Level IV plate weighing just 4.55 pounds—only 9.1 pounds for a complete front-and-back set.
Emperor does not reach that weight by reducing the protected area inside a nominal 10×12-inch envelope. It combines full ceramic coverage, a complete protective cover, an integrated trauma layer, multi-curve geometry, and standalone M2 AP protection in one finished plate.

In independent laboratory testing, Emperor defeated .30-06 M2 AP at 2,914 ft/s with 22.83 mm of measured backface deformation.

This is Level IV protection rebuilt around the absolute reduction of carried mass.

Emperor Ballistic Resistance Test — .30-06 M2 AP
Energetic Test Labs
Phoenix, Arizona
March 2026
Report ETL-TR-ADA-26-069-0101

● Threat: .30-06 M2 AP
● Impact velocity: 2,914 ft/s
● NIJ RF3 reference velocity: 2,880 ft/s
● Result: Complete defeat
● Measured backface deformation: 22.83 mm
● Configuration: Standalone

Emperor was independently tested against the NIJ RF3 reference threat. It is not presently listed as an NIJ Compliance Testing Program model.

THE CERAMIC

An advanced plate begins with an advanced strike face.

Boron carbide is the lowest-density ceramic widely used in advanced rifle armor—and one of the most demanding armor ceramics to manufacture well.

Emperor uses a proprietary titanium-modified boron carbide, sintered to 2.49 g/cm³ with high hardness and low porosity. The material and plate architecture were developed to extract the greatest possible ballistic performance from every ounce of the finished system.

The detailed formulation and construction remain proprietary.

What the buyer receives is visible in the result:
Full-coverage M2 AP protection in a 4.55 lb standalone plate.

WHY EMPEROR EXISTS

Level IV has always carried a weight penalty. Emperor was built to remove it.

Conventional Level IV plates commonly weigh roughly 6–8.5 lb each. A front-and-back set can place 12 to 17 lb of armor on the torso before the wearer adds a carrier, ammunition, communications, medical equipment, water, or mission-specific gear.

A pair of Emperor plates weighs 9.1 lb.

Compared with a pair of conventional 8 lb plates, Emperor removes 6.9 lb from the torso while preserving standalone protection against the defining Level IV threat.

Emperor is the culmination of focused weight optimization: Reducing torso load without requiring soft armor behind the plate, reducing the plate footprint, or reducing the stated ceramic protective area.

It is built for the wearer who measures armor in hours carried. The tactical professional, specialist, executive-protection user, or private buyer for whom mobility, fatigue, heat burden, and long-duration wear matter more than minimizing acquisition cost.

The result is Adept’s most technically advanced ultralight ceramic plate: Standalone M2 AP threat protection for buyers who place exceptional value on every pound removed from the fighting load.

PERFORMANCE:

Built around the defining Level IV threat.

In independent testing, Emperor defeated .30-06 M2 AP at 2,914 ft/s with 22.83 mm of measured backface deformation.

Emperor has also been validated against a broad range of common and enhanced rifle threats, including:

5.56×45 mm M193

5.56×45 mm M855 / SS109

5.56×45 mm M855A1

7.62×39 mm mild-steel-core

7.62×39 mm BZ API

7.62×51 mm M80 Ball

7.62×51 mm M80A1

7.62×54 mmR LPS

For dedicated protection against the heaviest tungsten-core rifle threats, including M993 and Swiss P AP, choose Colossus.

WHY EMPEROR INSTEAD OF THE ALTERNATIVES?

Against conventional Level IV

Conventional Level IV plates minimize purchase price but commonly weigh 6 to 8.5 lb each.

Emperor delivers protection from the defining Level IV threat at 4.55 lb.

Against Archon

Archon offers broader special-threat coverage at approximately 5.2 lb and a substantially lower price. For many professional and institutional buyers, Archon is the strongest overall value.

Emperor exists for the buyer whose requirement is written in pounds.

A pair of Emperor plates removes approximately 1.3 lb compared with a pair of Archons. For users operating under strict weight limits or wearing armor for extended periods, that reduction is the product.

WHO IS EMPEROR FOR?

Emperor is not the default Level IV plate. It is the flagship for buyers who need RF3 protection at the lowest carried weight Adept can achieve.

Choose Emperor when every ounce matters, armor will be worn for hours, and full ceramic coverage, standalone construction, and independently documented performance matter more than minimizing purchase price.

Archon remains the stronger value for most professional and institutional users.

Emperor is for the smaller group who want Adept’s most technically ambitious ultralight ceramic plate.

Some products are chosen because they are sufficient. Emperor is chosen because it is exceptional.
