The common three-hole NVG mounting shroud has a major weakness: It requires three holes drilled through the front of the helmet shell. This degrades a helmet’s structural integrity where it’s needed most. (Several analyses of helmets damaged in combat indicate that the front of the helmet is the region most frequently impacted by bullets and frag. [1, 2, 3] In one analysis, 72.4% of shots entered through the front of the helmet.[4])

The only slightly less common one-hole shroud suffers from a different weakness: Its lack of lateral stability. One-hole shrouds have a tendency to wobble, and this can be dangerous when they’re loaded with heavy NVG mount.

On boltless helmets, shrouds are typically affixed to helmet shells with adhesives such as epoxy. This can reduce the longevity of the helmet, reduces the helmet’s modularity, and may offer reduced stability following thermal cycling or in temperature extremes.

The Combat Circlet is a helmet NVG mount and accessory platform that sidesteps all of these problems.

It requires zero holes drilled into the helmet shell, and doesn’t rely on an adhesive bond.

Yet the Circlet is highly stable, for it securely fastens to the NovaSteel helmet’s retention system bolt holes, has an arm that clips onto the helmet rim, and, for further stability, has a rear bar that can be used to tie-down the rear helmet rim.

The Circlet also contains M-Lok mounting slots on the sides of the helmet, for easy attachment of accessories such as lights, comms, IFF, etc.

The Circlet’s crest, over the crown of the helmet, also contains M-Lok slots. These can be utilized for the attachment of forthcoming modules, such as Ghille and camouflage helmet cover modules.

The Combat Circlet is manufactured from tough glass-filled polymer, with an NVG mounting bracket made of anodized, aerospace-grade aluminum. Like the NovaSteel helmet itself, it’ll hold up to rough use in the field.

For enhanced NVG stability and retention, the Circlet is compatible with industry standard bungee cords and clips.

The Combat Circlet is an optimal NVG mount and accessory platform.
