Titanium changes the mass budget for armor design. At barely 60% of the density of steel yet with comparable yield strength, 6Al-4V ELI enables designers to hit weight targets that used to require exotic composites — while retaining the metal’s innate ductility, multi‑hit survivability, structural rigidity, and field‑repairability. Adept has spent years tuning titanium alloys for the Mantis, Storm, and other plate programs, and we now offer that know‑how in flat product form.

The result is Ti-6Al-4V ELI-LC: The lightest practical metallic strike‑face you can buy, already battle‑proven.

Adept’s Modified “ELI‑LC” Chemistry

Standard ASTM Grade 23 already specifies low interstitials, which increases toughness and ductility over standard Ti6Al4V. To boost performance further, we go one step beyond. Adept’s in‑house melt route tightens the carbon specification to ≤ 0.03 wt % (vs. 0.08 % in conventional Grade 23) while holding oxygen below 0.11 wt %. Lower carbon means fewer carbide colonies and a tougher, cleaner alpha matrix — exactly what you want for thin‑gauge strike faces that must survive edge hits and repeated abuse.

6Al‑4V ELI‑LC (~4.43 g/cm³) delivers >150 ksi (~1 GPa) tensile strength in the annealed condition, providing a specific strength that eclipses quenched steels.

High strain‑rate performance.

Under ballistic loading the alloy work‑hardens and sheds energy without shattering, so damage remains local and structures don’t suffer from extensive cracking.

Corrosion & temperature resilience.

A tenacious TiO2 film resists salt spray and battlefield contaminants; properties are retained from -196°C cryogenic service up to ~350°C.

Toughness & weldability.

The ELI-LC chemistry pushes fracture toughness even higher, important for high-impact structural applications, and particularly in appliqué panels that see flexure, and it’s also weldable.

Standard riot armor is much like football armor or motocross armor in that it’s only rated for blunt impact protection and is not intended to protect its wearer from bullets, knives, or spikes.

Many riot officers wear soft armor panels underneath their riot armor torso protectors — but this adds a thermal, weight, and logistical burden, and still doesn’t offer comprehensive protection from knives and other bladed weapons.

The breastplate is adaptable to more extreme circumstances. In fact, it’s a first-in-class plate carrier which can be up-armored with specially-built plates. The enhanced curvature, ventilation channels, and shoulder padding make for a system that is very comfortable to wear, even for extended periods of time. Sweat will run right off it, and the coating ensures that it won’t rust. That said, in very cold climates, you will want to wear it over clothing.

The ballistic performance of the system is guaranteed for fifteen years. The straps, which are replaceable, are guaranteed for five.

The enhanced curvature, ventilation channels, and shoulder padding make for a system that is very comfortable to wear, even for extended periods of time. Sweat will run right off it, and the coating ensures that it won’t rust. That said, in very cold climates, you will want to wear it over clothing.

Ultra-Lightweight Side Plates

Storm Foundation side plates are ultra-lightweight 6×6″ side plates designed to be worn alongside Adept Armor torso plates.

Though it’s often said that side plates are bulky and uncomfortable to wear, these Storm Foundation side plates weigh just 0.9 pounds each. They feel effortless to wear, yet they offer considerable protection from rifle threats, including:

• 7.62x51mm M80 Ball
• 5.56x45mm M193
• .223 Remington
• 7.62x39mm Type PS Ball
• 5.45x39mm 5N7 Ball
• And more.

Uniquely Versatile

Though these Storm Foundation side plates are not rated for 5.56x45mm M855/SS109, they are Storm System plates, which means that they are designed for compatibility with a range of forthcoming modular strike-faces, which will bring the plate to Level IV and potentially even beyond.

This is the side plate perfected. It’s so light that you’ll forget you’re wearing it, and it can easily be up-armored if and when needed.

Compatible with all carriers that accept 6×6″ side plates. If your carrier does not accept side plates, but has a MOLLE cummerbund, the Dragoon Side Plate Pouch will work well.
