Servoy
Servoy is a development and deployment tool used to rapidly create desktop and web applications that access live data from any "back-end" server -- Sybase, MySQL, MS SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL ... and more. Servoy has been around since around 2001 and is experiencing huge growth ... the word is getting around that Servoy cannot be beat for its combination of speed of development, scalability (from one user to many thousands simultaneously), power, extensibility and flexibility.
-ade consultants can design a Servoy application to integrate with your existing data, or we can set up a database server for you. An application served by Servoy can be accessed from any computer, at your office or from any other location, using either in Servoy's "Smart Client" or via Web browser, with no additional programming. An offline client is also available, that enables remote workers to enter and edit information, and then synch their work back up to the server.

Some benefits of developing applications with Servoy:
Standards-based and "platform and database agnostic"
Servoy uses standard languages and technologies, and at its core is Java-based. Because Servoy is written in Java it can run on any server platform and can be used on any computer. There is a wealth of Java plug-ins and beans that can be utilized to easily enhance your application's interface and capabilities. Also, Servoy can work with data managed by any "back-end" database system -- MySQL, PostgreSQL, Sybase, MSSQL, Oracle, or just about any other RDBMS (database management system). And a Servoy solution can be moved to a new server, even with a different RDBMS, with ease. Your investment will be preserved through any platform and database changes that may need to be made at your company.
Easy and economical to serve your application to users at any location
Servoy Client is "mean and lean" -- it downloads to users' workstations what it needs to display on the screen. This makes it nice and speedy when accessed from a remote location. Or, if the application does not rely on hardware integration (such as a cash drawer or barcode reader) ... users can interact with it using any Web browser! Licensing needs are determined by concurrent usage ... so if you have 25 employees who need access, but no more than five of them will be logged in at any one time, you only need to purchase and maintain five licenses. The Servoy Server application is free (yes, free, so if you use an open-source back end such as MySQL or PostgreSQL, you only need pay for the Servoy Client licenses.
"Zero deployment"
NO INSTALLATIONS NECESSARY ON WORKSTATIONS, NO PATCHING, NO UPGRADING, NO PLUG-IN INSTALLATION! Servoy "Smart Client" uses Java Webstart technology, so that your application will download to the user's computer if it is not already installed. The server checks the version of Servoy Client that is installed on a workstation, and downloads any updates that are required. Plug-ins are run on the server, and do not need to be installed on workstations. Your database solution can be accessed from home, from internet cafes anywhere in the world.
Secure
All data transmissions between the server and client are encrypted. Sophisticated and granular users & groups security can be built into your application. Web Client generates pure html pages so there is no chance of a hacker injecting malicious scripts via a Web browser.
In short, in almost any situation, Servoy would be our recommended Tool of Choice for developing your custom database application.
